A pretty well made and effective slasher flick.

A pretty well made and effective slasher flick. A sequel to the hit 2008 slasher flick 'THE STRANGERS', about three masked killers terrorizing a couple at a remote country home. In this film the same psychopaths torment a new family, as they're supposed to be visiting relatives in an unexpectedly deserted mobile home park. It stars Christina Hendricks, Martin Henderson, Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman. watch movies online biz The movie was directed by Johannes Roberts (who also helmed the 2017 killer shark horror flick '47 METERS DOWN'), and it was scripted by Bryan Bertino and Ben Ketai. The film has received mostly negative reviews from critics, but it is a decent hit at the Box Office though. I think it's a pretty well made and effective slasher flick. Cindy (Hendricks) and Mike (Henderson), and their two teenagers, Kinsey (Madison) and Luke (Pullman), are moving in with some family relatives in a secluded mobile home park. When they arri

Come for the sequel, stay for the fun

First off, let me start by saying I am a massive fan of The Strangers and I have been keeping an eye on this sequel since 2008. Finally the day has come and it did not disappoint. The film starts with the three killers rolling up in their 1972 Ford F-100 on a sleeping elderly couple, all while "We're The Kids in America" spills out of the truck windows and onto the deserted foggy road. watch movies online best sites  Our leading family made up of Kinsey (Bailee Madison), Luke (Lewis Pullman), and mom & dad (Christina Hendricks & Martin Henderson) find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time when what is supposed to be a quick overnight stay turns into the longest/possibly last night of their lives.  Times have changed and the strangers seem to be continuing what they started with new victims (how often is not known), but they are as brutal as ever with their kills remaining uncomfortably personal.  (*SPOILER* Dollface grabs mom, Christina Hendr

The first enjoyable horror film of 2018.

The first enjoyable horror film of 2018. The Strangers: Prey at Night is the sequel to the 2008 horror film, The Strangers. The first film was a home invasion film, and this movie is pretty much the same exact thing, but a lot more over the top.  watch movies online arabic The first film was a slow moving, but only occasionally suspenseful movie and this movie picks up the pace a lot more. Now just because a movie is more fast-paced than the other, it doesn't make it better, but in this case, it does.  The first movie did drag quite a bit, and the first time I saw the first, I fell asleep. Don't get me wrong, I like slow-paced, suspense horror films, but the first Strangers movie just didn't do it for me! This movie, however, was never boring!  This movie feels like a cheesy 80s slasher movie, and I enjoyed it! This movie has all the cheesy acting, illogical moments, and completely incompetent characters of a slasher movie, and I did find i

Also, none o the actors reached the performance of Liv Tyler in the first one, a performance that was critical to the original's intensity

Sure, it did scare me several times, and I will give them props on making a fun slasher film, but for the most part I feel that it strayed away from and did not capture the charm, intensity, and terror of the first.  watch movies online afdah Mainly because the film goes in an entirely different direction than the first, taking place in a trailer park as opposed to the middle of the woods, which lessened that sense of isolation. So don't get me wrong, the film had its tense and scary moments, but for the most part it was a very average slasher film with minimal gore and only a couple instances of scares. Definitely enjoyed this film in a totally different way than I did the first. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGOYK2A0GGRVbBO_oYtW34g So the story is less about being trapped in a house, and more about being alone in a vacant vacation community. So the type of tensity wasn't really the same and I didn't get a true sense of isolation and fear.  Also,

The first movie has been one of my favorites over the last ten years.

If you're go see this because you loved the first installation, you're not alone. I had hesitation that it might be bad, but I still had to give it a shot.  watch movies online amazon The first movie has been one of my favorites over the last ten years. The intensity, the mostly silent atmosphere (creating an actual uncomfortable but adrenaline pumping viewing), the way the actors/actresses actually make you believe this was real....all these made the original a phenomenal movie. Prey At Night shatters all of these. They added a lot of 80's style music (and sometimes, that's really cool. Take "It Follows" for instance...but not for a movie where the silence MAKES it scary). The actors/actresses have a horrendous script to follow. And the intensity just isn't there...unless Scream is the scariest slasher you've ever seen. Spoilers.... How in the hell does a truck continue to chase someone down after it's blown up and is on fire? How d

Better than the original

First off I have to say that I am a big fan of 80s slasher movies . They are my favorite subgenre of horror films. I'd much rather see one of the Friday the 13th sequels than a bleak, depressing horror film. The original Strangers was a good film. It was creepy and very bleak. It's not a film I can rewatch often because it is so downbeat. This sequel is one that I could rewatch over and over again. Probably as many times as I have seen Friday the 13th part 2. It's just an all around fun slasher flick. It's not near as scary as the original but I found it to be miles more entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGOYK2A0GGRVbBO_oYtW34g The actors all did a good job and I liked the characters and was rooting for them to survive throughout the film despite some of the dumb decisions that some of the characters made. But ALL horror films have characters making dumb decisions. One of the classics is Evil Dead which features a character walking into the

An Intense and Suspenseful Thriller

Fede Alvarez does it again. The director of the renowned horror film "Evil Dead," brings to you a piece of excellence that will have you hold your breath throughout this morality thriller – "Don't Breathe." It is an exquisite play that plays with the audience's integrity and the will to do the right thing while conveying the story in such a way that we feel helpless and uneasy the same way that the protagonists on screen do.  watch movies online comedy Alvarez made a lot of smart decisions in the making of this film and one of these decisions was choosing the right cast. He was really wise to reunite himself with the star of "Evil Dead," Jane Levy, an actress who is fearless at any given situation, and he was even wiser to cast Stephen Lang, an astounding actor for decades, who brilliantly portrays quite a challenging role here. Alvarez and his team give a remarkable visual representation of the story just by the exquisite sense of geogra

Fede Alvarez puts on a masterclass on how to craft a suspenseful film

What makes a thriller good? It's the suspense, the nail-biting, tense situations the film presents that have the audience at the edge of their seats at all times. And I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that this film delivers just that. watch movies online movies  Whenever you feel like the scene is over, and that you have some breathing room, BOOM! Fede drops the characters in a much worse predicament, with the excellent and diverse score by Roque Baños pounding in the background. The score of the film elevates each scene and as the film progresses, the movie raises the bar and ups the ante with each passing moment.  Once the characters enter the house, the film always has you in a vice grip and never lets go. It makes you feel what the characters are feeling; their dread, their helplessness; and that is a testament to how great a director, Fede is. watch movies online cartoon Let's move on to the actors. So the main cast consists of Stephen Lang, J

The film falls into the category of attempted shock and fails to really shock you

Raw is the latest horror film that has become the target of (almost) universal acclaim. The question remains as to why, considering the fact that Raw is just a schlock fest attempt at shock value that grossly (both literally and figuratively) underwhelms. watch movies online movies The film chronicles a teenage vegetarian who attends a boarding school for the veterinary arts and is then subjected to a grisly accident that costs her her finger...and her sanity. As the film progresses, it becomes more and more apparent that this young girl is developing an sensational lust for sex and human flesh directly borough on by her unfortunate mishap. watch movies online china The film falls into the category of attempted shock and fails to really shock you. It parades an abundance of sex and gore on screen but none of it holds any weight. The violence and gore that ensues becomes a rote exercise in the type of horror that this past decade has been known for: a big build up t

All in all, this movie annoyed me

All in all, this movie annoyed me. Its packed with stereotypes, overblown frat dudes that just force you to be free by conforming to brainless mentality. And the biggest crime of this movie calling itself a horror is... that most of the really bad scenes actually occur WHEN OUR LEAD CHARACTER IS Subconscious. Meaning the evil and loss of control is not something we directly see happening. Only the aftermath. And sure its gory and all that. But honestly. The movie is non-sensical. watch movies online beauty and the beast   And that's why I used the word decadence in my title.  Because by the end of this movie that is the ultimate emotional expressal you experience. How its worn, how its tired, wrong feeling, sad and self destructive.  If that's what the director was aiming to nail, well done. You managed to capture that perfectly. But in my opinion, I don't see why we would want to experience this as viewers. You walk away feeling you've seen better, compared

The problem most movies make nowadays alike Sci Fi copying Star Wars

I can appreciate the horror theme of cannibalism, although I religiously hold Hannibal Lecter as the only cannibal movie done right because it choose not to just focus on the shock and horror of gore but also include a psychological nature that wasn't encrypted, symbolic or metaphorically executed. It was in the open and allowed for an actually intriguing story to unfold as we got a mix of horror, gore, drama, romance and psychology all in one.  watch movies online movies The problem most movies make nowadays alike Sci Fi copying Star Wars is that they don't understand how to make a movie alike the original. Instead they copy the themes and reckon the horror tropes, blood, and value of visuals will be sufficient.  I feel that Raw commits the same mistake. It tries so hard to magnify the suppressed desires of our lead character with various color palettes, hardcore music, overdone theatrics. And it basically turns into a complete horror show without the horror. Instea

The movie takes a bit of time to really pick up

Raw or Grave (original title) is a French horror film about cannibalism. This is not the first time I'm drawn to French films of this genre, for instance Martyrs and High Tension are only a few I could mention that are definitely worth a watch. watch movies online biz Unfortunately Raw doesn't deliver. It tried to be disgusting and I guess it is but shock value doesn't really work if you don't have a decent plot/story-line.  During the film it is noticeable it tried to be edgy and over the top but it fails miserably. It's just a bunch of nonsense with an awful soundtrack in the mix.  For instance in one scene the sister of the main character (forgot the name) jumps in front of a car, killing the passengers and proceeds to eat them. Luckily no more cars pass by while she was feeding herself and luckily in France the police is nonexistent which explain why she can kill so many people without any suspicion whatsoever. I could go on and on. In conclusion

For her debut feature film, writer and director Julia Ducournau opted for the particularly taboo subject matter of cannibalism

For her debut feature film, writer and director Julia Ducournau opted for the particularly taboo subject matter of cannibalism. It's a bold and admirable move, as if there's anything that gets audiences members up in arms and storming out of a movie theatre, it's the sight of a non-zombie human being chowing down on another of their kind.  watch movies online best sites Making its way onto movie screens after a successful festival run, Raw arrives with both critical acclaim and a sense of notoriety, having apparently rendering festival-goers faint and puking in the aisles, to the point where the paramedics were called. As it usually the case with movies that have generated similar controversy, Raw really isn't that gruesome, and is in fact very careful and patient when delivering those squirm-in-your-seat moments. The incredibly bright but socially awkward Justine (Garance Marillier) has been mollycoddled by her parents from a young age and raised a stric

During a screening at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival

We have all seen the umpteen coming-of-age or sexual awakening story, but when is the last time you saw a becoming-a-cannibal story? This is one incredibly muscular piece of filmmaking, marrying visual poetry with slow-burn horror into one potent and delectable dish. watch movies online afdah  Debut writer-director Julia Ducournau knows exactly what she wanted to do and did it, and the resultant film is a different breed of horror with no cheap jump scares and with the camera never flinching from all body and animal horror.  During a screening at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, some viewers received emergency medical services after allegedly fainting from the film's graphic scenes. IMHO, this notoriety does it a huge disservice. Perhaps the viewers went into the cinema with an empty stomach or have a weak disposition for copious blood and body horror because Raw is never tacky or cheesy in its depiction of its terror.  watch movies online arabic
Walk outs in film are a dime a dozen, Bad acting , Terrible script or maybe the vibe is all off, it's all part of the Hollywood game. When 20 people walked out of RAW in Paris last year at it's first screening it was for none of these reasons. The reason 20 people walked out and two fainted is because RAW is one of the most intense films to come out of the European state in quite awhile watch movies online afdah The crime of RAW is not that it is provocative it is that has the intelligence to smooth it over with focused direction and smart writing thanks to the helm at both ends, Julie Doucornow in her debut.  Justine, played by an excellent Garance Marillier is a strict vegetarian in first year in veterinarian school On the first night her dorm is raided by senior students and so begins the process of a week long hazing exercise, One afternoon she is forced to eat a raw rabbit kidney.  The results are almost immediate as she discovers within herself a craving for
